Video Chat Tutorial Script

Tutorial Goal

Start or join an embedded video room, pass through the lobby, confirm your devices, and choose the layout that matches the rehearsal task.

Before starting: Video chat depends on network and Daily.co service availability.

Scene 1: Open the Feature

Open /pro/user/features/video. This tutorial shows one common task from the feature page, not a full product tour.

Scene 2: Join the call with the right devices and layout

Everyone checks camera and microphone before entering. Only authorized production roles start new rooms.

1. Open Video: Choose the Video tab. Start Meeting appears for owners, stage managers, and production managers.
2. Use the lobby: Preview camera, select microphone, speak once, and make sure the audio meter moves.
3. Pick a layout: Choose Meeting, One-on-One, Table Read, or Rehearsal mode, then click Join Call.

Scene 3: Confirm the room is ready before rehearsal starts

A working room means the right people can join, devices respond, and the layout leaves room for the work.

• Permissions: Project members can join active meetings; only authorized roles start them.
• Device test: The lobby preview and mic meter should respond before you join.
• Layout fit: Use Table Read for script work and Rehearsal mode when tools need more screen space.

Scene 4: Calls are live, not automatic records

On Book Pro does not save automatic video, audio, or transcripts for current calls. Network quality and Daily.co availability still affect the meeting.
