Scene & Character Selection
Choose your script, your role, and exactly which lines to rehearse.
Overview
Before every rehearsal session, you'll walk through a quick setup flow to tell the app what you want to practice. The setup screen lets you choose your script, character, rehearsal mode, and optionally narrow the range of lines to focus on.
The Setup Flow
The setup screen walks you through five choices, all on a single screen:
| Step | What You Choose |
|---|---|
| 1. Script | Which script to rehearse from your library |
| 2. Character | Which role you're playing |
| 3. Scene | Which act and scene to practice |
| 4. Mode | Voice Rehearsal, Italian Run, or Flashcard |
| 5. Range | Optionally, narrow the line range with the A/B Loop slider |
Once everything is set, tap Go to start.
Browsing Your Script Library
Your script library shows all scripts available to you:
- Uploaded scripts — PDFs you've uploaded directly in the app
- Production scripts — Scripts pushed to you by a stage manager via On Book Pro
Tap any script to select it and move to character selection.
Choosing Your Character
After selecting a script, you'll see a list of all characters extracted by the AI during script processing. Tap your character's name to select it.
Character Not Listed?
If your character is missing, the AI may have extracted the name differently. Check for alternate spellings or abbreviations. If the script was received from a stage manager, ask them to verify the character list in On Book Pro.
Selecting Acts and Scenes
Choose which part of the script to rehearse:
- Act selector — Filter by act number
- Scene selector — Pick a specific scene within the selected act
- Only scenes where your selected character has dialogue will be available
Choosing a Rehearsal Mode
Pick one of the three rehearsal modes:
| Mode | Best For |
|---|---|
| Voice Rehearsal | Running scenes out loud with AI-powered cue lines |
| Italian Run | Speed drills to build muscle memory |
| Flashcard | Text-based memorization with accuracy grading |
A/B Loop Slider
The A/B Loop slider lets you narrow your rehearsal to a specific range of lines within the selected scene. This is useful for focusing on trouble spots instead of running the entire scene.
How to Use It
- The slider appears below the mode selector on the setup screen
- Drag the left handle to set where you want to start (the "A" point)
- Drag the right handle to set where you want to end (the "B" point)
- A label shows "X of Y lines" so you can see how many lines are in your range
- Tap the Reset button to return to the full scene range
Focus on Weak Spots
After a rehearsal session, check your Stats to see which lines gave you trouble. Then use the A/B Loop to target just those lines in your next session.
